Mrs. Ebi’s journey began with a strong academic foundation, earning a first-class B.Sc. Degree in Business/Health Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from New York University. Her pursuit of knowledge continued with an MBA in Finance and Investment from the George Washington University, USA, in 1980. Notably, she graduated from the International Banking Summer School at Cambridge University, UK showcasing a dedication to global financial understanding.

Early Career at FCH Services Inc. and Chase Merchant Bank

Between 1979 and 1981, Mrs. Ebi served as the Director of Owners Operation at FCH Services Inc., Washington, where she managed a portfolio exceeding $250 million. This experience laid the foundation for her impactful entry into Chase Merchant Bank (later known as Continental Merchant Bank, CMB) in 1981. Joining as an Analyst-Deputy Manager in Corporate Finance where she played a crucial role in the bank’s money and capital market operations

Rising through the Ranks

Mrs. Ebi’s ascent within CMB was rapid. By January 1985, she assumed the role of the bank’s treasury manager, leading initiatives that broadened and effectively managed its deposit base from a low of N500 million to an excess of N1.5 billion. Her expertise was instrumental in the development of major Money Market instruments tailored to meet the evolving needs of customers

Contributions to Corporate Banking

In January 1991, Mrs. Ebi transitioned to the role of Assistant General Manager, Corporate Banking. Managing a risk portfolio of about N250 million, she emphasized export/loan syndication and special products, including World Bank financial projects, NCR fund, AOB/KSL, and SME. Her initiation into becoming one of the authorized dealing clerks for Nigerian International Securities Limited further solidified her impact on the financial sector.

Mrs. Ebi’s influence extends beyond her roles in financial institutions. She serves on the boards of several companies and institutions, including PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Redeemers University of Nigeria, African Missions Global, and acts as Special Trustee in Africa to the European Economic Development Council (EEDC). Her outstanding contributions earned her induction into the Nigeria Women Hall of Fame by the National Centre for Women Development, Abuja, in 2008

A Decade at PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc

In June 2008, Mrs. Elizabeth Ngozi Ebi joined PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, marking the beginning of a decade-long association with the company. Her role as an Independent Non-Executive Director showcased her commitment to corporate governance and strategic oversight. Her retirement on January 27, 2022, marked the conclusion of a chapter defined by leadership, dedication, and impactful contributions to PZ Cussons.
